Using Leica HDS laser scanning systems for movies and video games

Historic Scotland safeguards and promotes Scotland's historic environment. The colorful 2011 edition of their annual "Focus" magazine includes three articles on the use of Leica Geosystems laser scanning systems to aid in these activities. Articles cover the progress of the famous Scottish Ten project (pp 6-10); stone conservation at 12th century Holyrood palace in Edinburgh (pp 18-19), itself a World Heritage site; and, "Skills for the future" (pp 38-39). more

Historic Scotland, the government agency that safeguards and promotes Scotland's historic environment, features six (6) videos on their Youtube channel involving the use of Leica Geosystems HDS laser scanners to efficiently and accurately document and digitally preserve important heritage sites. Videos feature Scotland's famous Roslyn Chapel and two Scottish sites that are part of the "Scottish Ten" world heritage digital preservation project - New Lanark and remote St. Kilda - plus two international sites that are also part of the Scottish Ten project: Mount Rushmore (USA) and India's Rani Ki Vav Stepwell. more
