This 3 1/2 page article describes some of the more interesting aspects of the 8th annual HDS User Conference, held 24-28 October in San Ramon, California, specifically for users of Leica Geosystems HDS laser scanning and point cloud software.

| The 2010 conference featured a new "forensics track" which included five presentations solely on the use of scanning in forensics applications. Each of these presentations, plus two other forensic presentations given as plenary sessions, is briefly described. Also detailed are summaries of 10 hands-on training workshops; presentations on recent and upcoming Leica software releases - including Leica's point cloud Engine (pcE) foundation; and, a presentation on the use of scanning to accurately characterize damage to different types of structures in the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
