Highlights in Surveying Award

Leica Geosystems HDS Customer Wins Surveying Award
The winner of the second annual POB "Highlights in Surveying" project contest was announced in the June 2006 issue of Point of Beginning magazine and the winning project featured both Leica HDS scanning and a Leica TCRA 1103+ total station. The project, which covered a 2 year time span, involved surveying a complex new building structure and relied heavily on high-definition surveying. The June issue of POB included both an article about the winning project entitled "Supporting a Dream Design," by Mitchell Wimbush, the leader of the award-winning project for Midwestern Consulting, and a page of editor comments on why this project won the award.
Excerpt From On-line Article:
"One of the most important benefits in using a laser scanner on this project was increased safety on the construction site; more of the surveying could be done from safe locations without the need for attaching targets to structures using scaffolding or cranes. And the extensive amount of accurate, reliable data generated by the scanner proved to be very valuable. In fact, many times during construction, the point cloud data proved to be more useful than originally intended."
