Leica Geosystems Announces New Plug-in for Working with Point Clouds in 3ds Max

11 November 2013

(Heerbrugg/Switzerland, 11 November 2013) - Leica Geosystems announces a valuable new Leica CloudWorx point cloud plug-in for 3ds Max that increases office efficiency for users working with rich, as-is or as-built laser scan.

New “Leica CloudWorx for 3ds Max 2.0”
Leica CloudWorx for 3ds Max 2.0 is a new plug-in that replaces the prior Leica CloudWorx-VR application which also let users work more efficiently with point clouds in 3ds Max. The new module eliminates the prior, time-consuming need to export scan data from Leica Cyclone and import to Leica CloudWorx-VR; users now enjoy direct data access to Cyclone data files.

Leica CloudWorx for 3ds Max also now includes a full set of standard Leica CloudWorx tools for 3ds Max users – tools such as Slicing, Clipping Management, and Grids, that Leica CloudWorx users have long valued for navigating and working more efficiently with point clouds in CAD applications. The initial “Leica CloudWorx VR” application was an OEM solution (available through Leica Geosystems) that did not have these popular tools. Leica CloudWorx for 3ds Max was developed by Leica Geosystems based on the company’s powerful Leica Cyclone point cloud engine which enables efficient viewing and navigation of large point clouds files.

Leica CloudWorx for 3ds Max 2.0 is immediately available.
